FOR TODAY…..Tuesday November 30th, 2010
Outside my window…it is pitch black, and has been for almost 2 hours. I hate the winter with it’s early darkness, and cold that bites.
I am thinking…that I most certainly will explode if I can’t make this WordPress Shortcode do what I want it too. I cannot get a simple image to appear without the border, or in center alignment…grrrr!
I am thankful for…the furnace that keeps the bite out of the air in our home. One step outside and I truly appreciate and am thankful for the simple act of being warm.
From the learning rooms…check out my Hip Homeschool Hop posts that I link up with on Tuesdays to see what is going on in our Homeschool.
From the kitchen…a whole lot of leftovers and then simple meals. We had lasagna on Thanksgiving Day because we were having our extended family dinner on Friday at my parents’ house. So we had leftover pasta, and turkey for extra meals and this week is so busy that I kept the other meals very simple.
I am creating…a knit hat for Ava. She is the last of the three kids to get one. Her is traffic cone orange (her favorite color), and hot pink. I tried to talk her into a soft yellow or white to offset the orange, but to no avail!
I am going…it would probably be better to ask where I am NOT going this week. From the Strong Museum, music lessons, Orthodontist, story time, Salvation Army, U of R Science, Genesee Valley for ice skating, nail appointment, zoo science class….phew, I am tired just typing it all.
I am reading…an old favorite of mine from high school. A Falcon for a Queen by Catherine Gaskin. I have read it 2 or 3 times before, and know it is one I love, but would not be able to tell you exactly what it is about. I had a high school history teacher recommend it for a book report I would have to do and I fell in love with it. So much so that 2-3 years later in a college English class, when asked what my favorite book was, it was A Falcon for a Queen that popped out of my mouth first. My mother went to that teacher to ask about the book and where she might find a copy. He gave her his personal copy to give to me. Catherine Gaskin is one of my favorite authors and in those early years of college I spent many a weekend searching antique bookstores with my mother for other books of hers.
I am hoping…that I don’t regret having these braces on. Today I got my final stiff wire and rubber bands put on. The rubber bands are so tight that I can barely open my mouth. My dad thinks that is good because I will talk less!
I am hearing…Oscar and Muffin barking at each other. Oscar wants the bone that Muffin has, even though there are about 5 more of the same thing laying on the floor nearby.
Around the house…there is little to indicate that Christmas is coming near. We managed to get the outside lights up and the kids have their Christmas tree up in the family room, but that is it. I have been so busy that I did not even get our holiday houses scene up before Thanksgiving like I usually do.
One quote for the week…Inside me lives a thin person, but I keep her sedated with CHOCOLATE.
A few plans for the rest of the week: Movies and pjs with some cookie decorating thrown in, lots of taxi service, RMSC, ice skating, story time….
Here is picture for thought I am sharing…
