Weekly Wrap-Up ~ Oil Pastels & Lilacs

.

Monday: It was Museum & Music Lesson Monday. We have been heading to the RMSC every Monday for the past 6 weeks in order for Jayden to attend a science class. The class never starts on time because of something I heard others call, “Homeschool Time” which is really a horrible excuse to be late and make the rest of us homeschoolers look bad. He is in class from 10-11am and then on music days we have to stay until 1:45pm which is when we head for music lessons. Chloe and I are mighty tired of the RMSC at this point. There are just so many days you can spend there and still be entertained. Ava happens to really like the simulator that takes you under Lake Ontario so we do that every week.

.

Tuesday: Yet another workday for us. This is our last week of spelling, and we are working hard to wrap up Presidents, and First Language Lessons so that we can wind down for the summer. We will be finishing up around the 3rd week in June. The Garden Unit Study we are currently doing is the most fun. It incorporates, interesting people, places and art, as well as garden vocabulary and information. We are creating a large garden post to include many of the things we are learning about.

.

This is also our 2nd week out of 3 participating in an online art class. We chose to start with the oil pastel of a giraffe because that class was currently live. So far my only problem with the class is that Pilar goes to fast. I think we will enjoy just having the recordings better because we can pause them and take the time we need on each part of the project. After we are done with this one I purchased the railroad picture using perspective techniques.

Wednesday: I think this will be one of our last storytimes with Mr. Mike. Chloe and Jayden have always been too old for it and now Ava spends more time reading the latest book she pulled off the Barnes & Noble self than listening to the story. Sad, but true. Mr Mike did read one of our very favorites this week though, Pinkalicious by Elizabeth and Victoria Kann. Ava feel in love with this all things pink book from the moment we first laid eyes on it. We own Pinkalicious as well as the other two that follow: Purplicious (which is our personal favorite) and Goldilicious. There is now Silverlicious as well but we do not own that one.

.

Thursday: I hemmed and hawed all day over the weather. To go, or not to go to the Lilac Festival. We ended up going and the rain held out! There was a chance for a couple of great photo opportunities which I will share in my upcoming Wordless (almost) Wednesday. Here is one of Jayden and Ava.
