In my life this week… As I sit here and ponder “my life” I find myself having a difficult time separating it from what I would say about our homeschool this week. I am at a point in time where I feel all consumed by the kids and their activities. I am most definitely feeling spent of patience this week as I struggle to find a way to guide Jayden and Ava in their focus time and to find a way to lessen the constant flare-ups of attitude and fighting between all the kids.
In our homeschool this week… we are winding down on our formal school work. As the weather gets nicer it is harder and harder to stay focused on the task at hand. Ava and I spent sometime doing her math outside and Jayden is enjoying the new hammock for doing his work.
Chloe is spending time everyday working on her end of year project which is her Washington, D.C., Scrapbook. It was weird for me to pull my 8th Grade Washing Trip scrapbook out – 22 years after I did it. We are all looking forward to seeing how hers comes out. It is certainly more colorful and creative than mine!
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share… I am not sure how helpful I am feeling this week, but it our own lives right now I am finding that separating the kids is easing the strain on our work time. They just seem to be having trouble minding their own business and focusing on themselves instead of what the other one is doing. By moving one up to their room, and one out of site in the dining room it has eased some of the immediate intensity of the situation.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing… This weekend is a soccer tournament weekend for Jayden so we are off and running with soccer games. Meanwhile the hubby is working concessions at the tournament and Chloe is at the gym (as usual). Like with most families we know, there is never a down moment. 😉
My favorite thing this week was… The highlight of my own week is being a part of the Circle of Moms Top 25 Homeschooling Moms blogs list.
My kiddos favorite thing this week was…
For Ava I would have to say horseback riding as she is currently horse obsessed! That and the fact that today is June 1st…which means ONLY 21 DAYS UNTIL HER BIRTHDAY! I shout, because she shouts. 🙂
For Jayden I am thinking his outing to Horizon, a skating and fun center, was top on the fun list this week.
And Chloe might not say it was so much fun, but I think she is happy to have the painting in her room finished!
Things I’m working on… I am always working on my blog, reading a book, and planning ahead for school work. This week I am reading To Kill A Mockingbird because Chloe is reading it for her literature program and I like to read at least some of the things she reads.
I’m cooking… grill food is becoming more popular as the weather gets nicer here. This means that I have to do less cooking! We are enjoying fresh fruits, pasta salads and grill foods on a regular basis right now.
I’m grateful for… the lack of extreme weather here. Currently there was a another storm threatening Oklahoma, and so near the wake of the last one.
Something I am ogling or have my eye on… there is always something I am ogling and most likely will never get. But currently my head is really only spinning with curriculum choices for next year!
