The Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ July 20th, 2010

Simple Woman’s Daybook

July 20th, 2010…

Outside my window…SUNSHINE!  I am so loving this new theme of sunshine and warm weather here in NY.  Pools are warm and in use, tans are a nice deep brown, the garden is growing like weeds…what’s not to love?

I am thinking…that travel soccer tryouts are fast approaching.  The decision has yet to be made if we are going to have Jayden try out, and if so, for what team.  I lean towards giving it a shot and seeing what happens but in the end Joey will decide as he is the one who sees him play all the time.

I am thankful for…the fact that we can be a two car family.  I know many families who have to share a car.  It would be no fun to be home all day without a car, or to have to drive Joey to and from work so that I could have the car.

From the learning rooms…are not working on anything formal.  Last week and this week have been busy with running around to daytime activities like swimming lessons, Safety Town and gymnastics practice.  Although Chloe is working on writing a short story (more like a picture book is what she says), along with illustrating it as well.  It will probably be months in the making but she will be pleased with her results in the end.

From the kitchen…there is not a whole lot of cooking going on!  We have been so busy that meals have been scheduled to be quick and easy.   Jayden has been itching to make these cookie ice cream sandwiches from his cooking class but I told him he had to wait until next week when we have more of our daytime hours at home.

I am wearing…a towel. I am just out of the shower and getting ready to be off to the races for the morning.  First Chloe to the gym, then run home to finish breakfast and pack a bag to head to swimming for Jayden.

I am creating…nothing in particular right now, unless you consider all my preparation for our next school year to be creating something.  I am still searching for a new plan of action for teaching/learning history that will work for myself and the kids…….alright, mostly me, as they do what they are told!  😉

I am going…to look into the possibility of putting Ava in a dance class in the Fall.  My problem is I really want a studio that is not overly competitive and expensive!  We just can’t afford hundreds of dollars per costume, per 8 dances every year!  (That is when she is older of course.)  Joey and I despise everything having to do with dance studios (which is why we pulled Chloe after 2 years and just kept her in gymnastics), but I think Ava might like it so I may try one out in the Fall.

I am reading…Fortunate Harbor by Emilie Richards.  It is the second book in her Happiness Key trilogy.  I like this review of the book by Randall Radic.

I am hearing…Toot and Puddle on the tv here in our bedroom.  Jayden and Ava are getting in 10 minutes of tv time before we have to leave and while I spend that time on my blog, e-mail etc.

Quote for the day…What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight –it’s the size of the fight in the dog.

One of my favorite things…happy children.  I love to catch them doing something they love, playing happily with a toy, sharing a quiet moment with each other etc.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Mostly Mom’s Taxi service for swimming and gymnastics, and preparing for our next camping trip.

Here is the picture for thought I am sharing…
