Redo Your Room! Easy DIY Bedroom Decorations For Girls from Starts At Eight

All of the projects in this article come from the book, Redo Your Room – 50 Bedroom DIYS You Can Do In A Weekend. {Disclosure: I was given this book for free to review. All opinions are my own and I was not required to post a positive review. Your experience may vary. Please see my full Disclosure Policy for more details.}

I was so surprised at how quickly and easily my 9 year old took to this book! Once I gave it to her she was off and running, picking out and completing projects for her room!

What I love about this DIY Bedroom Decorations book

  • The photos of the projects are clear and colorful.
  • Practical color, painting and decorating tips are offered in the beginning to help get you started.
  • The projects are easy enough that my 9 year old can do many of them with little to no assistance.
  • The directions are clear and concise.
  • Many of the items used we already had around the house.

Some DIY Bedroom Decorations We Completed

In the course of a week I believe my daughter has completed 4 or 5 of the projects in this book. Here are 3 of them:

1. T-Shirt Pillow Covers

These are simple and easy pillows made of old t-shirts and batting.

Not only has she made one for herself and our dog, but she even made one to give as a gift for her friend!

2. Peek-a-Boo Edging Tape

We have fancy duct tape from a previous duct tape phase in our craft cupboard. This project required me to help her with the door, but she thought of doing her drawers and completed that task herself.

3. Cinchy Scarf Rings

While this craft was meant for scarfs,  Ava made it to hang her jewelry instead. We just happened to have Washi Tape around because her older sister and I use it for some scrapbook listing that we do.

I definitely recommend this book for the budding crafter in your house. These are fun and simple things to do that really made my 9 year old feel more grown up and feel good about the new look she was giving to her room!
