Flashback Friday-Jayden’s Birthday

In honor of having just celebrated Jayden’s 7th birthday this past weekend (even though his birthday is closer to Christmas) I decided to dig back to his past,  for a trip down memory lane.  Seven parties have of gone by already.   This year was his first “kid only” party.  We will get to that one later.  Let’s start at the beginning!

Before I even dig through the pictures I have very vivid memories of his first birthday party.  So that is the one I will highlight for everyone.  I seem to recall a little incident with his cake and pretending to answer the phone……After letting Jayden have at it with chocolate cake, Papa Peter thought it would be funny to “call” Jayden on the phone.  So as Papa is pretending to call and put his phone to his ear, so is Jayden.  Check out these pictures and you will get the gist.  Needless to say, we had to bathe and change him before we could move on and open his presents!

Jayden’s 3rd Birthday was memorable, but for a different reason.  I ended up having to cancel his party the morning it was supposed to happen.  He was sick.  As a child, Jayden was “sick” a fair amount.  But not with things that were of harm to anyone else.  He had breathing issues, and hearing issues.  On his 3rd birthday he turned up with a fever and bronchitis.  So it was just us and his grandparents, with a cake and all!  Here is a picture of him blowing out his candle.

Last but not least was his 7th Birthday party this year.  Last year we had a VERY full house with parents, kids, family and siblings.  This year, in hopes of keeping the party smaller, we convinced Jayden to have a “kids” only party.  He was actually really excited about it.  I stole a gumball themed idea from my friend Shana who had used the theme for her one year old.  The rest I let Jayden pick.  So what does my 7 year old want to do for his birthday?  Bob for apples.  What a strange request!  The other thing he wanted to do was play bingo.  I custom made gumball bingo cards for his party.  Joey lovingly made him a cake to look like a gumball machine.  Jayden was super pleased with his party.  More kids than I thought were totally into the bobbing for apples!
