I’m so excited to share with you an awesome online vocabulary program for homeschoolers. Not only can it be used for any grade, but it can be used on any device!

Online Vocabulary Program for Homeschoolers

Wordela Homeschool is an online vocabulary program for homeschoolers of all ages and grade levels. Whether you are using Mac, Windows, iPad, iPhone, Android, Chromebook, or Web, in your home, Wordela has you covered!

When using Wordela you have 4 ooptions:

1. AutoLearn – This option runs through three types of questions with your child; 1st is a definition with 4 word options to choose from. Second, is a definition with 2 word options to choose from. Third is matching the word to the definition.
2. Smart Flashcards – These flashcards show the definition and your student has to come up with the word
3. Review – In the review all the words are listen on the left side of the screen. You can select any one you want to see things like the main and subsequent definitions, they type of speech it is, how much progress they have made toward mastering the word, and more.
4. ZSpell – This is an asteroids style game where you have to race to type the words before they come down the screen and hit you.

The Best Features of the Wordela Homeschool Program

1. The Endless Amount of Word Lists AND You Can Make Your Own

I’m not even sure I can count the number of pre-done lists they have! They have larger categories of words like Most Common English Words, SAT/ACT Exam, English Conversation, Words For Life Success and more! Then within each of those categories are TONS of word lists!

Then you can also create any list of your own! Do you have a vocabulary list for a book they are reading – you can create it in Wordela! Using a spelling program and want to create vocabulary lists for that – you can create it in Wordela! It’s easy to create a custom wordlist in seconds. Simply paste or type your words into Wordela, and they do the rest!

2. Live Online Reporting

You can log-in to your admin account and see all your kids progress in real time. You can see if they are currently logged in or not, what lists they have completed, how much time they spend , what they have mastered, etc.

You can also change their account settings and assign curriculum from your admin dashboard.

3. Adaptive Learning

The Wordela Homeschool Vocabulary Program quickly learns each child’s current level on every word and list, then uses advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence to tailor learning to their exact needs. It means they focus just the right amount to learn each word with maximum speed and retention!

For instance, when you child consistently gets the definition for a word in a list correct (there is a percentage tally that appears for each word), that word is shown less. And the opposite is true of words they get incorrect. As you can see in the photo above, if they get one incorrect, the program shows them the correct answers and states, “No problem. We’ll make sure you master this word!”

4. It’s Even Gamified!

Wordela includes gamified elements such as:

• status levels
• half of fame
• avatar
• customizable themes

With each list there is a game called ZSpell. It’s like asteroids, only to blow up the oncoming ships you have to type the words correctly. This is a cool added bonus of both spelling and typing practice while playing a game. (Even I got addicted to playing, seeing how fast I could type to blow up all the ships before they blew me up!)
