Simple Woman’s Daybook

FOR TODAY:
Tuesday February 15th, 2011…

Outside my window…the sun is shining.  It has been nice over the past week to see the sun.  We have had so many days of dreary skies, negative temperatures, and snow.

I am thinking…about how behind I feel on my blog. I have many reviews waiting to be written, both homeschool related as well as novels I have read. Plus I am in need of posting 7 days worth of my 365Project. I am thinking one thing at a time is the best method. I posted a review on Pick and Draw yesterday. I plan on having my 365Project caught up by today or tomorrow. That leaves novels, and a few other reviews to worry about….later!

I am thankful for…my first opportunity to have a Giveaway on my blog. We have and love the game Pick and Draw. In an effort to more towards a more homeschool friendly blog I have recently started adding reviews. I am creating…more 5×5 squares. It turns out that some of us enjoyed the Community Lap Blanket project so much that we are going to tackle it again this year. The big difference for me is that I am attempting to learn how to crochet. I am told it is easier and faster than knitting (although it does not feel that way right now).

I am reading…Matilda by Roald Dahl for our Mother/Daughter book club. I am hoping to move on to something for me. Either another Elm Creek Quilts novel, one of the books from the show Castle, or a book called The Things That Keep Us Here which was recommended by one of my favorite authors, Emilie Richards.

I am hoping…to have my button done for my blog by the end of this week. I see so many blogs with their own buttons, so many of them that I have displayed on my own blog. Now I really would like to have one of my own. If I could only snap my fingers and make Photoshop do just what I want it to!

I am hearing…the sounds of Ava playing Caillou on PBSKids.org, and Chloe practicing her violin.

Around the house…I see more clutter than I would like. It seems as though when I find the time to do one thing (work on my blog, read, knit/crochet) something else always falls by the wayside. I guess today I will have to pick one space to clean.

Quote for the week…Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, it’s the middle that counts the most….you have to let hope float up.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Storytime, lunch with Poppy and Gommy, ice skating, Daisy Girl Scout meeting, playdate with some homeschooling friends, Adult Book Club for me, Mother/Daughter Book Club for Chloe and I.

This past weekend we enjoyed what we call “Fondue Night” at my parents’ house. Every year around this time we seem to slow down a bit with activities. It is the perfect time to engage in a meal that spans an hour or more. We feast on salad, garlic bread, fruits with pudding dip, and chicken cooked in the fondue pot with a plethora of sauces. The kids beg to do it every year and it is a good time to be had by all of us. Plus we eat enough food to last us a week or more!
