Review of A+ Interactive Math – Grade 4
Earlier this year I had the opportunity to review A+ Interactive Math – Grade 3 for Hip Homeschool Moms.
Here I am going to review A+ Interactive Math Grade 4. While we previously had grade 3, it was not challenging enough for our son Jayden, so we did not continue with it beyond the review period. I looked through the Table of Contents for both grade 4 & grade 5 to help me determine where I felt he would have the most success. They also have a Math Placement Test you can use instead to help you determine where your child would be best served.
With A+ Interactive Math software everything is done for you. Their program comes complete with the full curriculum book on CD, multimedia lessons, printable worksheets, exams, teachers guides, reference sheets, help menu and a recommended lesson plan for those that would like some guidance as to how to lay out the lessons.
Here is how I use the program with my son: At the beginning of each week I print out all the worksheets for the lessons we will cover and put them on his clipboard. Each day he logs himself in to the program to view the lesson and do the interactive questions. Then he completes the worksheets. If he seems to be having an issue in a particular area I have him go back, view the lesson again, and then retry the worksheet. For each worksheet and test you can either view a detailed answer sheet where each problem is broken down for you, or just a straight list of the answers for you to quickly check for the correct answers.
I am so glad I had the chance to review a level that was more at my son’s skill level. It has allowed us to really use the program and appreciate the many features. For instance, the help staff that was just an email away. My questions and concerns were always answered in a timely and friendly manner.
I also like the way the program builds. For example, after a little review, it started with addition, and continued with subtraction, multiplication, division, etc. Beginning each section with basic smaller digit problems and then building with each lesson. At each new level was another lesson to help your child build on the last skill. My son is finally remembering his zero placeholder when multiplying with multiple digits!
My son is more independent with his math since we started using A+ Interactive Math on a regular basis. A+ Interactive Math is a well rounded, easy to manage, more hands off approach to teaching math. With multiple kids, wanting to have less prep/planning to do, or math levels that are getting harder to keep up with, you can’t go wrong here!

Math is generally my least favorite subject to teach mainly because it’s my kids’ least favorite subject to learn. 🙁

I love teaching math! I told my daughter that math always “follows the rules” so if you learn the rules, it’s easy 🙂

I’m indifferent about math. It all depends on the level. I’m all about the elem. math! Get to pre-al. and beyond and I hand it off to my husband!

I taught math in a private school before home schooling so its my favorite subject. My daughter is ok with it but my son would rather have dental work than work fractions!

Thanks for sharing this. I dislike math but my kids seem to enjoy it and I need to find a math curriculum. I actually am supposed to get the 1st grade disk to review when they are completed with it in August. I am so happy you shared the review.

Math is my son’s least favorite subject. I enjoy teaching him, but he hates repetition. I’m constantly trying to find a new way of bringing math alive. Great review, Heidi!
