New but “Destructed” Clothing

The "Destroyed" Look

The "Destructed" Look

So my friend Shana and I were doing our Wednesday mall walk and we stumbled upon something that I just knew would drive my dad nuts!  Since we did not have the kids with us this time, we wandered into Old Navy.  Our intention was to check out the $7 Jingle Jammies.  Due to the disappointing selection that was still left, we wandered through the store.  As I turned to look at a rack, I had to do a double take.  I thought there was something splattered, specifically bleach, all over a pair of pants on the rack!

To my horror, it turns out they are supposed to look that way!  The label, as you can see from the picture says “Destructed”.  I of course whipped out my camera and told Shana I just had to take a picture of it to show my dad.  He is always grumbling about the jeans with holes and the faded colors.  As he would say, “Why would you pay to have that garbage when you could put holes in it yourself?”

Our search continued through the store as I was formulating this blog in my head.  I told Shana I wasn’t going to tell my dad about the pants, I was just going to blog about it and he would see it then.  So odd that  I walked through a store stalking pre-damaged pants to take pictures of for my dad!  We continued on to find a lovely pair with pre-made holes in it as well.

Now, I could defend the holes and the faded colors, but the bleachy looking paint blotches is a little much for me!  I mean seriously, are we going to pay $30-$40 for a pair of pants that looks as though it has bleach stains all over it?

Bleached or Painted?

Bleached or Painted?

I seem to remember a time when I (and my father) used permanent markers of varying colors to hide bleach marks.  Specifically on a pair of olive greenish pants of his that my mother was so mad about him “ruining”!  He had done some cleaning and gotten a spot or two whited out with bleach.  Apparently “ruining” is in now!  So dad, put away your markers and bust out the bleach!  The I just came from a paint job look is in! 🙂
